Optimal Times for Profound Readings

If you’re reading this, you likely enjoy a good tarot reading.

One of my friends this week asked me, “When do people usually get readings?”

That answer varies immensely.

Many people primarily get their readings in times of new beginnings or great transition, when they are in a period of uncertainty, or are overwhelmed and crave some centering. This is the time for a solid one-hour reading.

Sometimes, a person wants another one-hour reading immediately after, but I typically don’t find this beneficial.

An in-depth tarot reading offers transformative answers that include some mental and emotional realignment or direct actions that need followed through on before you’re ready for new information.

If you are seeking more of an ongoing support, you would want to sign up for a 30-minute reading online weekly or bi-monthly. This offers tarot as a navigation tool to enhance your own inner work.

Tarot has long been regarded as a powerful tool for self-reflection, guidance, and spiritual growth. Clients with an achiever outlook who desire self-improvement sign up the most regularly.

Readings can also be fun and add depth to a joyous gathering of friends in celebration. I love reading at events online or in-person where friends can listen in and add insights for each other.

The optimal time for a reading ultimately depends on your individual needs and circumstances. Trust your intuition and consider engaging in a tarot reading whenever you feel drawn to seek guidance or insights.

Most of my clients state that they feel lighter, validated, and more certain of how to best proceed after their readings. If you’re interested in experiencing the transformative power of tarot, I would be thrilled to offer you a personalized reading.

I am heading to the Oregon Country Fair next week, so if you’re craving a reading, this long weekend is the time to sign up!

If you want to add the value of tarot into your life right now, reach out for a tarot reading today.

May your journey through life be guided by the wisdom of the cards.

Balance Your Elements of Life

With the Summer, I often find it challenging to keep my life in harmony.

Through the tarot lens, we can find answers to finding our own best inner equity by considering what elements we are giving our attention to.

In simple terms:

Pentacles are Earth – the physical resources we manage

Cups are Water – the emotional and spiritual side of life

Wands are Fire – the energy that creates motion

Swords are Air – the mental beliefs driving us

Obviously, summer is a time of Wands.

We will be actively in motion more than the other seasons.

We will hopefully get to follow our passions and desires.

Fire is fun, but it can overwhelm the other elements of life easily.

Today, I want to offer you a short meditation on how to consider care-taking the other fields over the next few months.

Wherever you are reading this, find a way to be at ease and relax into your posture.

Take a breath and consider the Air of you, and let your mind relax. Imagine that air being drawn to your lungs.

From your lungs, that air is carried by the Water of you, your blood, to the far reaches of your physical Earth form, your body. Imagine one molecule of air making a journey all the way down to your right pinky toe.

Now return your attention to the Fire of you, your heart. Imagine it beating with the action of your inherent electrical system that brings heat to the whole body.

Take a moment to appreciate these elements that make up this form you reside in.

This week, consider which of the elements of your life need some attention.

Earth – How can you take better care of your health with good food this summer?

Water – Is there something creative you would like to engage with that may fulfill your heart?

Fire – What desires do you want to put energy toward?

Air – Is there a book or class that might give you a fresh point of view that you know you need to hear?

This is just the tip of the conversation.

If you want to learn more about balancing your elements in life, reach out for a coaching session or a divination reading.

When is it Intuition and Not Anxiety?

As an Intuition Coach who helps people harness their inner guide, I have to be a constant student.

This week, a bittersweet lesson reminded me of the additional benefits of this practice.

I have been seeing a guy for about 6 months. While not serious, it has added a layer of sweet delight into my life.

Over the past week, I had a few moments of sensing that he might be ending our connection.

Each time, I considered the signals he had sent via text, and my logic told me it was just anxiety, although it didn’t carry apprehensive tension.

Instead, the thought felt quiet and calm.

It came up a few times. And I kept blowing it off because his behavior had not shifted, and, well, I was really busy.

So I didn’t stop my flow to tune into the nudge more closely.

And then I got the call… he’s overwhelmed with work and needs to simplify his life.

That I had sensed something amiss prior to this helped me manage the bad news better.

That quiet voice had prepared me for the possibility.

Most importantly, the resonance of how that voice spoke to me was compassionate and calming.

I could feel this again as he explained why he needed to disconnect.

Of course, part of me wonders if the intuition was signaling me to check in to renegotiate our norms for the summer phase.

This is a reminder to me that it’s always good to pause and reflect when a muted insight raps at your door.

But I don’t think that was it’s primary purpose. And anyhow that boat has sailed.

I think the benefit of this intuition was that it softened the shock.

So when is it Intuition and not Anxiety?

I know this answer is painfully obvious but . . . When it doesn’t feel anxious.

It’s as simple as that. You have to pause to listen to the subtle.

Allow awareness of the profoundly gentle.

It’s easier to hear the anxiety because it’s like a clanging bell of panic.
Intuition can be so mild that it can be easily tromped over and ignored.

But that does not take away from it’s influence. It can still align you with it’s soothing vibration when the event it predicted comes through.

If you want to further explore intuition with me, reach out for a coaching session or a divination reading.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Celebrate some fathers in your life, and appreciate your own healthy inner masculine. It’s probably a part of your intuitive knowing as well.

Schedule in Summer Stress Relief

Whew. This week was a whirlwind.

June is a busy time for tarot readers, with graduation parties and corporate events peaking while Ren Faires are shouting their first huzzahs in the Pacific Northwest.

Summer can feel stressful with all the abundant options for fun and work and gardening and house projects and and and . . .

I constantly have to remind myself to schedule in downtime and leave space between big efforts.

That’s why I am grateful to be grounding inward on Tuesdays with some quiet community scribble time.

I had a wonderful experience this week co-leading a Summer Weekly Writing Group Online with my friend and writing coach, Dawn Montefusco.
Registration is only open for another week, so jump in while you still can to schedule some healthy focus time listening to your own words.

If your time feels tight and stress feels high today, learn a quick way to shift your tension out with a fun Qi Gong practice. (Yup, I’m certified to teach both Qi Gong and Yoga. I am a triple threat hippie.)

Book some relaxation time into your summer.

Then book a tarot reading with me to tune into the great magnet together sometime!

Enjoy Your Weekend,

Love Your Animal Self

In my early twenties, I decided that the duck was my ‘Spirit Beast’. I decided to call it that to be funny, since a duck is not so beastly.

It fit me. I had a quacky voice, a waddly walk, a love of travel, and my sense of humor fit the bill. (Get it . . . the bill? Haaa . . . yeah . . .)

At this point, I was working in the Film industry in New York City. Kindness was not common, and I had to shake off a lot of attitude and ego from colleagues and managers and diva clients.

A mantra came to me from my divine ducky guides.
“Water off a duck’s back, Quack Quack”

Whenever someone would lay their bad mood into me, I would recite this to myself and shake my bottom twice on the words ‘quack quack’, wicking off the wet of their unwanted energy.

It helped a surprising amount. I could keep my head high and my mood light when the NYC grumps were rampant.

Other animals have felt like they had messages for me through the years as well. A chance crossing with an ibis while paddling, or the time I rescued a dragonfly from a spiderweb. Each felt a little more relevant from the meaning I associated with the creature. (For instance, the ibis is related to the Hermit card.)

Consider your own sacred moments with animals and what they meant to you.

If you have ever had pets, then you know the utter pleasure of fulfilling their joy. A treat, a belly rub, a word of praise, or a dog getting a walk on the beach and they are over the moon.

Consider what your inner animal craves right now that you can offer it. Honor that this part of you deserves the same adoration that you give to your beloved critters.

I have shared a poem below that captures this sacred message for me.

If the poem inspires you, please feed your inner animal writer. Join me next week, as I begin co-leading a Summer Weekly Writing Group Online with my old friend and writing coach, Dawn Montefusco.

Then scroll onward to a flip through of a lovely new oracle deck, Woodland Wardens, that derives meaning from animal and plant combinations.

As you watch, consider which card resonates the most with you right now.

Say No to Say Yes!

I am about to head out for a 3-day weekend of camping at a festival. I am not quite packed yet, but I don’t mind, because my yard looks great and I have checked a lot of business boxes this week that feel better than getting out early.

We all juggle so much. Even though I didn’t catch all the flying bowling pins this week, I am sitting with a feeling of being deeply satiated with the words, “Good Enough”.

Lately, I have been thinking about the gift of saying No to make room to say Yes.

Sometimes the No is to a fun outing, sometimes it’s to a request from a friend for more time than I can offer, sometimes it’s to cleaning the dishes before bedtime.

When we say No, we make room to say Yes to tending to our garden, spending more time with our family, or prioritizing our own need for proper rest.

This summer, I want to include writing in my Yes list. I am doing that by diving into co-leading a Summer Weekly Writing Group Online with my friend and writing coach, Dawn Montefusco.

This means I am saying Yes to something that I really care about.

It’s a committed Yes to a habit that summer often sidetracks.

It means saying Yes to believing in myself as a person who can complete and publish a fantastic guide to reading Tarot.

If you want to get some motivation to do what you love, spend $1 on Dawn’s kindle edition of Cracking the Resistance Code and see how to overcome your inner obstacles.

Have a Wonderful Memorial Day weekend of saying a vibrant YES to what you Love!

What do You Want to Create?

Confession: I have written 3 books, but none of them are finished yet.

I love writing, and I even don’t mind editing, but I am scared of publishing.

So I fuss with each of these tomes now and again, and then get busily distracted by more ‘important things’.

I get anxious about the idea of failure . . . what if all of this is for nothing?

I get intimidated by the idea of success . . . am I ready for my voice to be heard on a wide scale?

And, gosh, isn’t it more important to get some Spring cleaning done anyhow? Yeah, that’s a more immediate necessity . . .

That’s why I find it both ironic and deeply moving that, last week, my friend Dawn dedicated her newly published book, Cracking the Resistance Code, to me!

A whole page that just says, ‘For Jenna’.
I obviously got a little choked up when I saw that.
It definitely cracked through my resistance of receiving adoration.

What’s even better is that it’s a fantastic short book and, right now, you can get the Kindle version for only .99 cents!

I have been reading it this week, and, low and behold, I am allowing myself to spend more time tip-tapping on my keyboard, filling in and fixing up one of my books.

Even if you’re not a writer, Dawn’s book can help you to approach anything you love to do and yet find yourself avoiding or not allowing yourself.

And it’s only about 100 pages, so it won’t take long to get the guidance she offers.

Dawn and I are also going to be leading some practices of writing together online with community over the summer.

If you’re keen to get writing yourself and want to join us, reach out to her or contact me and I will keep you in the loop.

If you’re a writer who wants to know more about how you can use Tarot to enhance your writing, scroll down for a video I made on that topic.

This weekend, I hope you dedicate just one hour to something you love that you have a resistance to doing. You’re worth it.

The Magic of Being Kind

What is the most essential knowledge that reading cards professionally for 16 years taught me?
I have learned -deeply- that everyone is hard on themselves about the same thin
From the successful mid-life leaders, to the uncertain mid-twenties dreamers.

Everyone feels like they’re not doing enough.

Myself included. This week was not a very productive one. I got sick briefly and then couldn’t get back into the groove. You know the story, because it’s normal for all of us.

So my work this week became forgiving and feeling through this sense of failure to relaunch after a head cold.

I am bringing kind words to quell the agitated critiques.

I am making sure meditation is included in my lighter schedule.

I am reminding myself that I am more than my productivity at work.

We can all learn to be more compassionate to the one person we have the ability to change.

It’s funny, because this frustrated agony rarely motivates anyone to take better actions toward their goals. If anything, this voice lends to more procrastination and grumpiness while slogging through the tasks.

The magic of this medicine is that, when we are more gentle and understanding with ourselves, we are also more accepting and loving with the people around us.

This weekend, I hope you can simply tune into your mind and look for the opportunities to be more warm and friendly with you.

Notice and give yourself credit for your accomplishments and successes.

Laugh more lightheartedly at the harsh critic within, and know that even this part of you means well to motivate, even if it’s methods are lacking in effectiveness.

Would it help to discuss your relationship to yourself with a compassionate ear and some divination guidance?

Moon Shadows Inspire Change

Last week we had a solar eclipse in Aries, and this upcoming week on May 5th, we have a lunar eclipse in Scorpio.

While I am not an astrologer, I do like to keep up with the suggestions of how to make the most of each phase we are in.

This lunar eclipse can bring to light the hidden ‘shadow’ feelings we have been ignoring, especially around our connections with others.

We might have some new insights on how we want to shift our relationships in meaningful ways.

This doesn’t mean that you have to figure it all out now, but it’s a great time to welcome in conversations that adjust your trajectory.

Outside relations, this is a good time to clear out your closets: physically, mentally, and spiritually.

What small habits are you ready to adjust to take better care of yourself?

How can you embrace your whole self, warts and all, even acknowledging the inner critic who rejects these parts of you?

Be kind to yourself and listen to the parts of you that feel insecure, scared, angry, disgusted, guilty, and frustrated.

How to rock Mercury Retro

I didn’t believe in Mercury Retrograde for years.
It took a man mocking me at Burning Man to change my mind.

I had arrived on the desert playa with a bruised rib cage from a kite boarding accident the week before wherein I had been “teabagged” when a powerful wind and my complete lack of skills collided. I was ripped into the air and dunked back into the water three times.

The man on the playa listened to my stories of woe and laughed that I was describing retrograde adjacent problems while saying I didn’t buy into it.

I had signed up for too many things at the same time, and Mercury Retrograde will spank you for that.

I now see these 3 weeks that come around 3 times each year as a blessed downtime phase.

You can still do things.
You can still get stuff done.
But there is no need to rush, or push push push like the rest of the year.

This is the time to slow down enough to see where you need to organize your life.

This is not the time to blather mindlessly, haphazardly sign contracts or make casual big life choices.

Instead, rock your retrograde with real reflection.

Listen to others, and speak from your best wisdom.

Triple read the details on the page before you sign.

Park the productivity bulldozer on the side of the road and go for a walk in the woods.

Slow down enough to contemplate on what life choices feel like a ‘yes’ to your gut.

Leave room in your days for things potentially going awry, and then enjoy more rest when they function well.

You’ll end up being more satisfied during a retrograde if you do, because you’ll act from a more centered place.

Best of all, I always offer 10% off my readings, intuition coaching sessions, and lessons during any Mercury Retrograde.

Mention it when you sign up or use the code:
