Nurturing Taurus Wisdom

By Jenna Lynne Roberts

I love Tauruses.

I have almost no earth in my natal chart (only Taurus in Chiron). I seem to collect Earth people to help me balance out.

A major reason I enjoy my bull friends is because they have a grounding effect on me. They like good food, snuggles, and routines. These are all essential for my well-being, and each of these work best with outside support.

Tauruses know how to nurture their bodies. Most of the ones I know often will choose rest over social fun, root vegetables over sugar bombs, and comfy clothes over impressive fancies.

They are known for how they hold strong boundaries. I will admit that this can be challenging with their stubborn nature and resistance to change. It’s also a form of healthy living that more of us need. They know what matters to them and they are unwavering.

In 2007, I was traveling in Tante Toraje, Sulawesi in Indonesia. A village was attempting to get two water buffalo to fight. I am grateful that they didn’t use any cruel techniques to inspire the bulls like some other places.

Instead, we watched the local men in their sarongs jump around and smack the bull rumps and pull at their horns. The buffalo were not phased a bit. They simply could not be bothered. This is what it feels like to try to influence a Taurus through brute force or illogical arguments.

Taurus people seem to run on their own time scale. They are not in a rush, and don’t do well when forced to. They are all about steady and slow win the race. It requires patience to be around them, but the pay off is usually worth it.

I remember when I first met my ex-boyfriend (now dear friend) Christopher. We would go on walks in the park and I would literally be zipping circles around his plodding pace. We would walk up a hill and I would go faster and then take breath breaks while he would somehow beat me to the top going slow.

Even if they don’t intend to change, I don’t know a single Taurus who pretends to be perfect. They know themselves and are accepting of their flawed nature, which in turn makes them very accepting of my own foibles. They believe in the power of good enough.

This weekend, I hope you will consider how to slow down and smell the roses and chew the cud.

In honor of Taurus season, take some time to be a healthy lazy with a solid meal and your favorite entertainment.

Make the fam watch a nature show. Do it your way, even if others protest. It’s good for them to be nourished and grounded by your best interests.

Trust your own gut in that way that doesn’t care what others think.
