Navigate to your best life
Lately, I have been thinking about the balance between striving to do things well, and suffering with the critical monster of perfection.
A lot of us are taught to do our best and aim for the top. There are positive attributes to this, but the side effects can be dire.
Many of us are so hard on ourselves when we fall short that we decimate the joy of our accomplishments.
This is despite various successful people who have finished this phrase with the following words:
Perfection is the enemy of . . .
Good (Voltaire)
Completion (Voltaire)
Progress (Winston Churchill)
Creation (John Updike)
Profitability (Mark Cuban)
Greatness (Janelle Monae)
Despite so many brilliant people warning us, many cultures around the world still pressure us to aim for a flawless result.
Consider the Olympics. This upcoming winter, athletes and judges will remind us of that global value system of a perfect score.
Yet, this very organization typically brings horrible human rights violations to whatever city is chosen to host the event.
Somehow, this makes sense. Those who require perfection are overlooking higher morals for the sake of winning.
This week, consider how you can find balance with your various life efforts.
Where does it feel good to aim for quality?
I will edit this article multiple times before I send it because it feels good to show I care about the details.
How do you push yourself too far at times?
I have spent hours on one blog post some days, and that’s excessive and impractical.
What grace can you offer yourself when you find a mistake?
I am still proud that I got this post done, even if it isn’t the best of my best.
Where in your life do you deserve some ease?
I do my best to offer something thoughtful every week, but I accept that they can’t all land with everyone.
I love tarot reading because there is no such thing as a perfect reading. A skilled reader is not going to tell you everything with absolute certainty. Rather, they are going to help you find the tools to navigate the mysteries ahead with more understanding.
A good tarot reading will have some aspects of clear direction and psychic clarity. A great reading will help you align with your own inherent skills to manage what comes your way.
A super solid reading will enhance awareness of what ways you can improve to be more prepared.
I look forward to giving you a quality personal tarot reading that is not perfect.
It’s extra fun to look into the foibles of life with a friend in a Tarot Together session.
If you sign up for an intuition coaching session, we can build the tools of overcoming perfection brain by listening to the higher self more clearly.
Welcome your community to be graced with connection when you hire a tarot or palm reader from Portlandia Fortune Tellers. Every reader has their own strengths and challenges, but they are all compassionate and wise in the ways that matter.
I hope you have a lovely weekend of accepting your efforts.
Enjoy Good Enough,
