Memory is Messy

We don’t fully understand how memory works, but we know it’s not reliable. We cannot actually rehearse stories of the past with true certainty. 

This brings up a lot of feelings for me, since it’s such a source of security that my stories are valid and my interpretations of moments are real. 

As I experience perimenopause, I have days where basic words are elusive, or moments I have reflected on countless times feel more distant. It freaks me out, but my elder women tell me it gets better . . . and then other new memory challenges will happen down the line again. 

Today, I want to offer some ways to massage the memory muscles.
