The Power of Now-stalgia

Being a Cancerian, I love old photographs and books. I enjoy hearing stories of different eras and watching classic black and white films.

Being nearly half a century on this earth, I now can sense the changes we have collectively been through in my own experiences.

There is something so precious about knowing how things used to be before the waves of change that came with first the internet and then smart phones. I might sound old to say it but, “Oh my goodness things are so much faster now!

Add onto that the nature of aging and experiencing internal shifts with perimenopause or whatever health surprises life has required of each of us . . . and it’s a wonder we sense any consistency at all.

This is the 6 of Cups – a card about days gone by and childhood.

Today, I welcome you to access your own wisdom from the past

  • Sit and reflect on your daily routine when you were 10 years old, and then 20, and then 30, and so on.
  • Sense your pace of life at each age and the apparent pace of those around you.
  • What technologies were the cutting edge at each decade point?
  • What hobbies did you enjoy at those times?
  • What were you learning about yourself and the world?
  • What did you enjoy most about each of these ages?

To be fair, it’s not all about good in the old days…

Let’s remember the gains we have made since then:

  • What are some ways that you can see we have collectively evolved in?
  • What self-improvement can you see from where you are now?
  • What are some things that you like better about the modern era?

Now let’s use the Temperance card to integrate our younger and current selves.

  • What is one habit or way of being from your past that you could gain from resuming in your current state?
  • What advice would your current self tell your younger self?
  • What advice would your younger self give your current self?
  • How can you call in the best energies of the past into today?

Maybe this weekend you can choose to watch an older movie and perhaps even show a kid you love a place in time that they have never been.

Go through old photos, read antiquated poetry, or simply do some fun activities that are timeless.

Step into the current moment with a friend in a Tarot Together session.

Go down memory lane to understand the present in a personal tarot readingwith me.

Lean into the ever-knowing self in an intuition coaching session.

Take part in a centuries old art when you hire a tarot or palm reader from Portlandia Fortune Tellers for your upcoming event.

I hope you are able to relish the moments of this week while also being inspired by your memories.

Be Present with Your Past,
