Today I am offering a more personal share with my annual ritual of pondering on where I have been and where I am going. I am also sharing a video of Gary the Unigoat below for your entertainment.
My hope is that you may relate to some of the messages or come up with your own mid-summer ponder.
In my 47th year on earth, I took on more leadership roles in my costume troupe and in purchasing an event-focused tarot business, Portlandia Fortune Tellers.
I’ve learned that leadership is best done with curiosity and humility.
Ask questions before presuming. Learn what others need from you to thrive as a group. Accept what people can bring and consider whether it’s the right fit for your needs.
My hope for the year ahead is that I am able to remain focused on the big tasks that intimidate me in building my businesses and accomplishing long-term goals.
On that same note, I’ve learned this year that I’m legitimately ADHD. It turns out that my friend’s teasing me was actual insight.
Through this diagnosis, I have learned that when I slow down and rest more, I am able to better find my own peak performance. I’m still learning the skills of how to implement that, but I’m aware of its value.
Last year and going forward, I’m both learning and calling in compassion for myself and others in the challenges of being ourselves.
These are uncertain times, and I want to accept that I may not be at my best some days, and I want to try to meet others where they are at.
