The Horror of Horoscopes
I sometimes talk about astrology on this newsletter, even though it is not my expertise. I share the information because I see how it has great value.
My goal is for people to use the upcoming alignments to shape our paths in a positive direction, instead of getting stuck in fear cycles around transits that so many hobbyists slip into.
I understand why some people dislike astrology. It has a power that is sometimes misapplied.
Some people use it to attack others, ‘Oh I don’t date Leos anymore.’
Or, ‘You’re a Scorpio? Ugh, that must be hard.’
These are dismissive presumptions that we already know someone, without doing the work to learn who they are more fully.
The more you comprehend about actual charts, the more the Sun sign becomes a small detail in a big picture.
Some friends will lean into how bad things are going to be due to a square coming up. This habit reflects more on their own desire to lean into negative presumptions of the future.
People can also deflect accountability by blaming retrogrades instead of owning their actions. Granted, sometimes life does get very discombobulated and makes it hard to be successful. But the fault is not in our stars, even if they are jacking things around.
We can gain immense value from learning more about how charts work. The more we know, the less we let the negative around astrology wash out the good.
Be aware not to make scary presumptions about what the messages mean.
I thought the recent Venus Retrograde would impact my current romantic relationship. It didn’t.
Instead, I had a challenge with my oldest friend that brought me an incredible awakening about my own fears in all relationships that I had never before considered. This self-awareness is invaluable, and is helping me move out of a shadow that will likely make my habits around all my connections improve.
The more I learn about astrology from experts, the more I see the information it offers as a compass to where I need to place my focus.
I once was scared of Mercury Retrograde, until an astrologer illuminated how it’s a great time to slow down with my hyper-productivity. Choose to say no to new ideas for a spell. And yeah sure, prepare all plans with the potential for unexpected shifts.
I now focus more on finishing things that need completed, and cleaning out my closets. It’s a time to reflect on how I am ready to grow, and gives me a whole 3 weeks to get myself aligned toward that.
In a few weeks, I am excited to dive into astrology with a true expert. It’s a fun and informative opportunity to join.
