Navigate to your best life
When I was a kid, my dad worked 80 hour weeks for a few years. He was a Navy officer who was going to grad school at night. On top of that, my mom had a health issues that he was helping to manage.
I would catch him at times laying back on the couch with his hands on his chest, fingers lightly entwined. His eyes were closed and so I would tell my mom he was sleeping.
He would always mumble back, “I’m just resting.”
These would be maybe 10 minute stints. I probably shortened them often, wanting more time with him myself.
In the whirlwind of summer, scheduling in long hours for true rest is often lower in priorities. When this happens, I take a page out of his book and find those moments when I can decompress even a little.
Today, I want to offer you some suggestions of how you can make the most of the time you get to rest if you’re also buzzing with activity during the warm season.
Power Naps: ideally you will have 20 minutes to get the full benefit, but if not, you can be like my dad and aim for a . . .
Mindful Moments: Feel your body deeply while listening to your breath for as long as you have to decompress.
Relax better while driving: Obviously remaining alert to the road is key, but turn your phone on do not disturb and play some down tempo jams that you can sing along to.
Sleep Hygiene: Wind down with a routine, make sure your room is dark and quiet, and go to bed early to make the most of the time you do get to fully reset.
Exercise: fifteen minutes of getting the heart rate up or strengthening muscles helps the body to also release stress and rest more effectively.
Hydrate!: It doesn’t take extra time to make sure that you are getting your full fluids everyday, and you’ll feel more at ease overall.
Rest with friends: Have some time to connect with someone? Maybe plan a spa hour instead of a lunch date, or better yet, sign up for a Tarot Together session to tune into each other’s lives.
Tune Inward: get aligned with your internal quiet to deepen your ease of making decisions when you sign up for an Intuition Coaching session.
Relax with some Clarity: People often say that they feel lighter after a reading with me. Sign up for a personal tarot reading to let go of the cycles of worry that stresses your mind.
Take care and enjoy the fun in the hustle and bustle and restful times of summer.
