A Simple Yet Effective Practice

Most of the 78 cards in the Waite-Smith Tarot deck have multilayered meanings.
The act of reading is to mingle the various concepts in a spread and discern what overarching message is formed in that scenery.

Then there is the 9 of Cups, with one pure essence behind it:
Enjoy and be grateful. Savor, relish, appreciate.

While a thesaurus can dig up more words for a tarot guidebook, it all narrows down to basic gratitude.

I’ve read books on how to manifest. The key element they all include is the act of focusing on being grateful for what we already have. This is the path to spell casting our desires.

Thus, the 9 of Cups also is seen as a sort of wish fulfillment card, similar to the Major Arcana’s precious Star Card.

As we step into this upcoming holiday with the word ‘Thanks’ written right into it, let’s use this week beforehand to do a little magical daily practice.

Right now. Pause and reflect.
What are you grateful for about this exact moment?

Pause again with each thoughtful item and feel the sensations this particular gratitude creates in your body.
Rinse and Repeat.

If that felt good, post a note on your bathroom mirror to remind you to do this daily for the week ahead.

Play with how minute or immense your items on your list can be.

Hold your next delicious bite of food with deeper noticing of the details of flavor.
How does the joy of that taste flow through your whole being?

That this grand universe even exists is pretty spectacular.
How does pondering that feel? Where do you sense that thought lighting up in your body?

The fun of this is that there are actual scientific studies that prove this practice can improve your sleep, your immunity, your heart health, and your relationships. You can relieve anxiety and stress more easily, which we also all need around the holidays.
