Embrace Spiritual Growth in Dating and Relating

This week, Venus goes retrograde until September 3rd.

While this might throw off our usual desires, both creative and inter-relational, it also will give us fresh perspective on who and what we truly want now that is different from before.

I have been actively dating for about a year since my 10 year relationship ended at the very start of 2022. It’s like a strange part-time job.

My current approach is different than the norm, and is a good angle to take for this Venus retrograde.

Rather than hunting for “the one”, I am experiencing each person I meet as a tarot card to learn from.

Who am I with the athlete? Do shadows come up for me about my physical ability when I hike with them?

Who am I with the awkward intellectual? Can I enjoy their brain without getting empathically anxious myself?

Each new interaction is a chance to engage with witnessing myself mindfully.

This is helping the most in the area of attachment theory, which designates each of us as a mix of Secure, Anxious, or Avoidant.

When I get insecure in relationships, I can lean into anxiety spin outs.

‘Did I text them back too quickly? Should I have said that? Why haven’t they responded?”

Naturally, my pattern is to be the most enchanted by avoidant dismissives who reflect the familiar and trigger these tailspins. 

My current goal is simply to observe how I can lean into my Secure side.

How can I calm this part of me when my nerves flair?

How can I communicate my vulnerability without overwhelming the other person?

How can I sit with the discomfort of desire for more?

It isn’t easy, but I want the benefits of these challenges to be worth the discomfort. 

Whether you are single or partnered, this month ahead is a good time to get mindful with observing who you are in relations and how you want to be different.

Slow down. Get curious. Lean into positive shifts.
